Thomas Evans Montgomery
April 21, 1833 - December 22, 1892

THOMAS EVANS MONTGOMERY  (Son of Hugh Montgomery and Annie Underwood Battle) was born April 21, 1833 in Monroe Co., Mississippi.  He married Frances ("Fannie") Cornelia McClesky (daughter of Eusebias J. McClesky and Mary A. Shropshire) on January 1, 1874.  He died December 22, 1892 in Pontotoc Co., Mississippi1.. 

 He is buried in the Campground Church Cemetery, Pontotoc Co., Mississippi next to his wife near the entrance of the cemetery.  The Campground Cemetery is off Highway 15 south of Pontotoc.  From the junction of Hwys 41 and 15 travel 2.9 miles south on 15.  Turn right onto Campground Road, County road 134.  The church is 1.7 miles on the left, one tenth of a mile prior to the fork in the road and county road 139.  Next to the church is the Old Natchez Trace.  This is also the general neighborhood of Nette Montgomery Goode's home.  She raised the orphaned Montgomery children, Irene, and Goode (Story of Pontotoc by E. T. Winston (1931), page 143).

The tombstone is shared with his wife, "Fannie."  He is buried on the left, she on the right.
